The next meeting of the Chapter 2/3 Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics/Children with Disabilities Committee will be on Monday April 16, 2018 at 7 PM at St. Mary’s Hospital in Bayside.

This is an important meeting dedicated to discussion of NY 17A guardianship for individuals with developmental disabilities.  There are a number of questions and concerns regarding constitutionality, compliance with the ADA and other laws and infringement on the rights of individuals with disabilities.  NYS AAP has been invited into this discussion.

Along with Dr. Benard Dreyer, past AAP president, there will be two representatives from the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Working Group and Guardianship Reform:
  • Larry Faulkner:  Director of Corporate Compliance and General Counsel, The Arc of Westchester; President of Health Law Section of NYSBA
  • Lisa Friedman: Attorney specializing in planning for persons with disabilities; Chair of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section Committee, Trustee of the NYSARC Trust (Trusts and Estates Section)
If you are interested, please let me know and I will send you additional materials to review regarding NYS guardianship laws.  If you know of any other folks who are interested in attending please let me know.
***RSVP by April 9th so that I can order sandwiches for the meeting****

Thanks
