Dear NYS AAP – Chapter 2 Members,
All NYS AAP – Chapter 2 members were invited to participate in our Strategic Planning Meeting on October 15, 2015. The meeting was a great success and resulted in 6 strategic priorities/goals with dedicated workgroups to develop and execute each one. 
One of these goals is to offer advocacy training to our members, including residents and medical students. To this end, I’m pleased to invite you to our first Advocacy Webinar on June 3rd from 12 noon to 1 pm. There is no charge for Chapter 2 members to attend.   Please see below for details.

WEBINAR DESCRIPTION:
“We Are All Advocates” is a 1 hour webinar highlighting the policy & legislative priorities of the NYS AAP, presented by Elie Ward, Director of Policy & Advocacy for the NYS AAP and Executive Director of the NYS AAP – Chapters 2 & 3 .
This webinar is appropriate for beginners as well as experienced advocates for children and children’s health care.
At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the attributes of an advocate:   What traits do you need to cultivate to be an effective advocate?
  • Advocate at the local, state & federal levels:  What information do you need?  How do you tell a compelling story?  Who are key allies?
  • Understand the NYS AAP’s Policy & Advocacy Priorities:  What have we accomplished so far this session and what is left to get done?
  • Find the information you need to be an effective advocate:  Always know what you are talking about!
